The Trip
British funny guys Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon created a little British film in 2010 that exploded in popularity, resulting in three follow-up flicks. In the first film, the men - playing themselves - tour England as food critics. The second film takes place in Italy, the third in our homeland of Spain and finally in 2020, they took on Greece. The films have stunning scenery, lots of funny moments and some touching ones as well.
Ratatouille
An animated family-friendly hit, 2007’s Ratatouille focuses on a rat who wants to be a top French chef. The sweet movie, voiced by a range of Hollywood stars, is the perfect lazy afternoon heartwarming watch that kids and adults alike love.
Julie & Julia
Star of the silver screen, Meryl Streep, tackles the role of another screen icon - food icon Julia Child. This inspiring foodie flick tells the story of a young woman who aspires to cook like Julia Child, and conveys a passion for food we can all relate to.
Chocolat

Burnt
While this foodie movie didn’t perform very well upon release, it’s still an easy way to while away an evening. Set in London, Burnt follows a disgraced leading chef (played by Bradley Cooper), who is attempting to get back to his former glory. For a flick that dramatically flopped, it has a pretty decent cast.

A sneaky hit from 2007, Waitress tells the story of a talented baker and cook who is in an abusive relationship and longs to escape. Sure to warm your heart (and inspire you to start baking again), this film was later adapted into a successful musical that has been staged in both the UK and the USA.

The bestselling book by Elizabeth Gilbert was adapted into a hit movie starring Julie Roberts as Gilbert, who threw in her big city life to travel the world. She eats in Italy, prays in India and finds love in Bali. There's a lot of life lessons and heartwarming moments to be had.

A critically acclaimed film from Mexico, Like Water for Chocolate was adapted from a successful novel, and became a surprise hit across the world in the early 90’s. The plot follows the star-crossed lovers who are forced apart. Food plays a special role in this film, almost as a supporting role all of its own.
Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory
What food movie list is complete without this 1971 musical classic? The heartwarming, funny and sometimes crazy movie focuses on young boy Charlie, who wins a ticket to tour the reclusive inventor Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. There’s an array of naughty kids and their parents along for the ride, as well as the late Gene Wilder in his most famous and quirky role.
