7 food podcasts to binge this winter

2020-05-27

This week on the La Española blog we've listed the best food podcasts to binge this winter.

Podcasts are all the rage nowadays, with thousands available on your podcast platform of choice.

Perfect to listen to as you cook, clean, commute or relax, podcasts are popping up on topics from everything from current events to true crime - and food podcasts are the next big thing. And with winter truly setting in, staying in and listening to some great podcasts is the perfect cold weather activity.

This week on the La Española blog, we checked out what’s on offer in the food audiosphere, and have shortlisted the seven best.

These are the best food podcasts to binge this winter.

1. The Food Medic

Dr Hazel Wallace is not only an MD, but an author, blogger and personal trainer - so she is an expert in all things health. Each week on ‘The Food Medic’, Hazel welcomes other experts to the show to discuss health topics like mental health, fitness, sleep and food. The podcast has a five star rating from hundreds of listeners, so be sure to give it a go.

2. Food Hacker

If nutrition interests you, ‘Food Hacker’ is for you. Host Rosie Mansfield makes the topic of nutrition easy to understand, and takes the listener through different food trends. Topics she has covered include gluten, fats, the keto diet, cholesterol and our favorite diet - The Mediterranean Diet.

3. Food Psych Podcast

‘Food Psych Podcast’ host Christy Harrison is a dietician, nutritionist and intuitive eating counsellor - so she’s the go-to for everything food related. Each week, Christy chats with other likeminded experts, such as activists, sex and relationship coaches, fertility coaches and many more.

4. All The Dirt

If you have a green thumb and love food, ‘All The Dirt’ is a great Australian podcast to listen to. The hosts have covered topics that span everything from native plants to food festivals, and often interview other experts who are sure to inspire your own foray into the world of gardening.

5. The Real Food Reel

‘The Real Food Reel’ is the perfect all-rounder podcast for foodies. The host interviews experts in their own field each week, who discuss food trends, weight loss, fitness and so much more. Recent guests include athletes, farmers, meditation teachers and nutritionists to discuss a range of lifestyle topics in relation to food

6. Deep In The Weeds

Australian Anthony Huckstepp is a food writer who was compelled to start ‘Deep In The Weeds’ at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March, he has been churning out excellent interviews with those who work in the food industry who have been affected by the shutdown. Expect chats with chefs and restauranteurs whose livelihoods have been affected.

The Food For Fitness Podcast

‘The Food For Fitness Podcast’ is a labour of love for host Scott Baptie. The food coach and writer ran the podcast for three years until the end of 2019, and it’s well worth listening to the back catalogue. Each episode features a chat with someone from a different walk of life, be it doctors, athletes, endurance record holders and many more.

As winter sets in, now’s the perfect time to subscribe to these podcasts and binge listen. By the time spring arrives, you’ll be well informed about many topics that may kickstart your own food and health journey.

Popular podcast apps you can find these on include Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podcast Addict and Castbox, along with many more.
