2020-03-12

We want to share with you the proven benefits of using olive oil in your everyday skin and hair routine.

We’ve said it many times - olive oil is the ultimate all-rounder. It can be used in a multitude of ways in the kitchen, of course, but did you know olive oil is a staple in many beauty lovers skincare and beauty routines as well?

So, set aside your expensive skin, hair and cosmetic products and instead pick up a bottle of our favourite golden liquid - it’s a natural, affordable addition to any beauty kit!

Nourish your skin

Natural skincare products are ideally suited to all skin types, from combination to oily skin, and normal to dry skin. And what’s the best natural substance on the shelves? Olive oil, of course!

Since ancient times, olive oil has been used to achieve beautiful skin - even Egyptian queen Cleopatra raved of its benefits!

Use olive oil as a natural eczema remedy, hydrating moisturiser, eye makeup remover or even as a shaving cream for the closest shave you can get.

If you have a little one, olive oil is a safe nappy-rash treatment, and is perfectly suited to babies super-sensitive skin.

Big beauty brands are of course jumping on the olive oil bandwagon, offering up pricey products that claim big results, but save some cash and pick up a bottle of La Española olive oil at any Coles Supermarket today for the same outcome at a fraction of the price!

Hydrate your hair

Not only does olive oil offer a myriad of uses on the skin, but it’s an absolute godsend for hair as well!

Scrap the need for top-shelf shine serums to finish off your poker-straight blow dry and instead rub a drop of olive oil between your palms and apply to flyaway hair or frizzy ends

Olive oil is also the ideal natural product for those who suffer from pesky dandruff or dry hair. Mix with a few drops of lemon juice and some water and apply to your scalp and the lengths of your hair. Now, cover your hair with an old tshirt and leave in overnight as a hair mask to hydrate your hair. Rinse, shampoo and condition as normal and you’ll be left with the glossiest strands ever!

Good news for those who have slow-growing hair. Due to being packed with antioxidants - an important elements of skin and hair health - olive oil actually promotes the growth of hair, resulting in thicker, longer locks!

Other olive oil beauty tips

You can even apply to cracked and dry heels, slip on some thick socks and leave overnight for the smoothest feet in the morning! No pedicure required!
