What’s on this winter in your nearest city

2019-09-21

We've compiled some foodie-friendly events across Australia you definitely shouldn't miss out!

As Australia plunges into another winter (some locations colder than others!), you’d be wrong to assume that events across our Great Southern Land cool off as well.

In fact, the social calendar across your nearest major city is only just heating up, so wrap up in your warmest winter woolies and don’t let the freezing temperatures hold you back!

What’s on near you? Let’s take a look at some foodie-friendly events hitting your hometown this winter.

Melbourne

Kick off your winter in the ‘World’s Most Liveable City’ with a visit to the Winter Wine Fest on June 9. It’s held this year at the Red Hill Showgrounds, a prime Aussie wine region on the stunning Mornington Peninsula. Warm the cockles of your heart with a robust red, live music and good company at this Victorian event that is entering its third decade as a local favourite!

Sydney

If you are in Sydney this winter, make visiting the Kurrajong Kitchen Cheese Lovers Festival 2018 a must-do!

On June 16, Centennial Park in Sydney is hosting the third year of this annual cheese festival, which aims to be “the greatest cheese festival in Australia”.

With packed out previous years, be sure to book your ticket in advance and leave enough room in your belly to fill up on some of the best cheese in the country!

Brisbane

Escaping the typical freezing winter climate its southern city counterparts experience, Brisbane is a great place to escape the cold this winter and partake in a little foodie fun.

June 30 sees the Mid Winter Fest Tasmania - Brisbane Edition hit Brisvegas with gusto. As the name suggests, this traditionally Tasmanian festival is picking up sticks and relocating to Brisbane for one day only. What can you expect at The Mill on Constance in the Fortitude Valley? Hot spiced cider, Tasmanian produce, fine wines and spirits, live music and lots of pagan practises to welcome in the winter season.

Darwin

The Top End is hosting the event we at La Espanola of course consider a must visit - the Spain Place Fiesta. Running from 5pm on June 15th until the wee hours of the 16th, this foodie event is run by Territory Taste Magazine and raises important funds for Cancer Council NT

What Spanish goodies will be on offer at this giant street party? Salsa dancing, live music, traditional tapas and paella, sangria and Spanish wines will keep you warm and toasty as you dance the night away and do good for the local community at the same time.

Winter events across Australia are only just warming up, so don’t let the chilly temperatures hold you back from experience what our great country has to offer!
